Creating Curriculum

Creating a curriculum for Youth and Family Ministry

Where to begin?

As a Director or Leader of a Youth and Family Ministry program, you might ask yourself:
    • Is what we are teaching modeling knowing "about"God/Spirit or knowing "how" to live a faith-filled life?
    • When we are concerned with the "about" of the subject matter,  we become focused on the facts and information.
    • When we are focused on the "how" we learn from lived experience and the practice of their moral and religious/spiritual values.
  • Knowing "About" relates to the Bible, and the stories in the Bible.  It is not enough to only know about, we must know how to live according to the principles and practices that were taught by Jesus, our Master Teacher.
  • Knowing "How" and knowing "About" together is the very kind of knowing that Jesus advocated and the biblical sense of knowing.  It is an integration of the head and the heart.
