Spiritual Education --

My own approach to Spiritual Education consists of Education, Inspiration and

Transformation. Through offering courses and classes which offer tools and support,

the (re)igniting of the spark of divinity within comes naturally, from one to another.

Transformation is an inside job, which works its way into the outer realm, by sharing

with one another our journeys and narratives.  Faith education is formed differently for

each individual.  We can never know when a soul is going to say "Aha! I understand".

Their inner light is what I aim for.  It is where I aim from in myself.  I give

instruction, usually in the form  of an opening prayer.  This spiritual instruction or

intention sets the stage for the transformational activity of Spirit to be the

ultimate educator in the room. We can use Jesus as our teacher, our Rabbi.  We can use

Buddha.  We can use all different forms of symbols to activate an image of the Divine,

through music,  art, and through conversation.  Knowing about different learning styles

and multiple intelligences, there is a need for multiplicity or a variety of tools in the

gathering.  Whether it is in the classroom, or on a retreat, in an online setting, it is a

collaboration of tools and methods to speak to the different souls.

Socialization is a component of education which leads to further development of the

individual's growth and understanding of their inner strength and power.  Socialization

by being in community and by the nurturing of the seeds planted along the way, creates a

root system which lasts.  When the wind blows on the surface, the tree may bend, but if

the roots are deeply grown, there will be strength that endures.  It feeds the others and

helps them grow deeper still.

The Purpose of Spiritual Education-- The purpose of education is to bring forth that which already exists (divinity) in the individual.  To see the vision of the continuing transformation of the individual, the community and the world.
